The overall mood of the competitors was great, and you would have problems finding a competitor that didn’t have a big smile on their face regardless of how well they did during the qualification round. And that should always be number 1, if you are not having fun in archery you are doing it wrong and the competitors of RIG 2018 seem to know it by heart 😉
The qualification round for the Reykjavik International Games finished a few hours ago.
Detailed results can be found on Ianseo.net http://ianseo.net/Details.php?toId=3588 and more results to come tomorrow when the match rounds begin.

3 National records fell during the qualification and hopefully more to come tomorrow during the matches.
The recurve mens record was broken with 579 points by Sigurjon Atli Sigurdsson, he also owned the previous record of 577 points in the 60 arrow qualification since the world cup in Marrakesh in 2015. It’s about time Sigurjon, we all have been waiting a long time to see you improve your record, since you beat the record regularly during training.
Compound womens record was broken with 576 points by Helga Kolbrun Magnusdottir, she improved on her own record by 1 point even though she had a rather slow start she powered through and clawed in yet another record. The previous record was 575 points.
Eowyn Marie A. Mamalias broke the Cadet (U18) and Junior (U21) Compound womens records with a massive 12 points with 550 points, the previous record was 538 in both categories and she also owned both the previous records. Eowyn has broken more than 10 national records in the last 6 months and her domination seems to know no bounds.
Sigridur Sigurdardottir tied the Recurve master womens record with 501 points but she got unlucky and shot a miss in the last round. To break a record you need to score 1 point higher than the previous record so it was quite a close call for her.
(Corrected) Runar Thor Gunnarsson was 2 points away from the Compound Masters Men (E-50) record. The record is owned by his father and is 545 points, Runar scored 544 during RIG 2018
